  •          File naming convention

    • Will be similar to that of council:

Division – Class – Club – Last Name – First Name – Title of File – JPG

No hyphens or underscores are allowed except if needed in the image title:

      The following characters are illegal in Windows filenames and should NEVER be used \ / : * ? " < > |

      Example:

CG BE LCC Smith Joseph Black-capped Chickadee.jpg

      Division Abbreviations:

      MG – Monochrome General
      CG – Color General
      CC – Color Creative
      NA – Nature
      CA - Color Assignment
      MA - Monochrome Assignment

      Class Abbreviations:

      BE – Beginner
      AD – Advanced
      SA – Salon
      ST – Star

      Club Abbreviation:

      LCC – Livonia

Last Name – First Name:    Smith Joe

Please - no middle initials and be consistent – do not use Joe  Smith one time and then Joseph Smith another.  Choose either Joe or Joseph.

Title of File:               The file name can use hyphens if necessary, for instance,

Black-capped Chickadee.  Do NOT use any symbols or special characters, including “#” or “/” or “\” or any others in your file name.  There are a lot of “/” used for dates in slide names and “#” used for #1, #2, #3, etc.  However, since the PC and the web server use these “symbols” to signify a subdirectory and the “#” will definitely cause the web server to truncate file names at the “#” sign, you will have to find another way of naming your files.  Instead of Blue Bird #1 – make it Blue Bird 1.   If the maker uses a date in their file, perhaps 093005 or 09302005 would work for 9/30/05.

Use only spaces between your words in your file name:

MG BE LCC Smith Joseph Black-capped Chickadee.jpg

CG BE LCC Smythe Dennis Blue Bird 1.jpg
